India, EU aim to have FTA ready ahead of leaders' meet on Jan 27: Commerce secretary.

India is close to signing a long-coveted trade deal with the European Union this month, trade secretary Rajesh Agrawal said on Thursday, in what would be the South Asian nation's largest pact yet as it ‌chases new markets ‌amid US tariff pressure. Agrawal said the two sides were 'very close' to finalising the ‌agreement and were exploring whether it could be wrapped up before leaders from both sides meet in New Delhi this month.

India, EU sending strong signal to world: Ursula von der Leyen.

President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen on Tuesday said the Free Trade Agreement sealed by India and the EU sends a strong signal to the world. Noting that the conclusion of negotiations on the FTA is a decisive moment in India-EU partnership, she said this is only the beginning.
